Truth and Beauty
Over forty years, for one hour of every day, she has presented herself to the three-paned looking glass of her dressing table. Each day it has reflected what she yearns to see: a face smooth as the glass itself, unblemished, ageless.
Today, however, it no longer conceals the truth.
Screaming with rage, she picks up a jar of face cream and hurls it at the glass. The mirror shatters on impact. She throws another jar, and another, and then collapses in tears.
Truth, says Keats, is beauty, beauty truth.
But truth is no match for vanity... no match at all.
